Who or what is Wottan?

I've never heard the name "Wottan" before? How's that working out for you? But in fact, the Spanish motorcycle brand with its flagship "GP 2" is one of the winners in the Swiss motorcycle market 2021. From there, one or the other might have already encountered the brand.

Wottan Motor is a Spanish motorcycle and scooter company located in the province of Valencia on the southeast coast of Spain. Since 2009, a team of experienced specialists has been working on scooters and motorcycles in the small cubic class. In the market for over 12 years, Wottan is represented in the important markets of Spain and Italy, in addition to Malta, Portugal and Cyprus. And recently also in Switzerland. In the process, the company has already sold over 5,000 units. And the signs for growth are good.

GP 2 - a winner
The current model range includes three 125 cc scooters, each bearing the stately name "Storm", and two 125 cc racers called "GP 1" and "GP 2". At this point we present the successful 2021 model from the Spanish motorcycle manufacturer, which has sold just 105 units from 0 to 100. That's not quite as easy as it sounds, since the young brand doesn't have the dealer network of a large, established brand, but it's not surprising given the advantages that the good bike has to offer. For a 125cc racer, the GP 2 from Wottan has the look of a 500cc, fabulously strong. The already super strong lines, where the exhaust is pulled quasi invisibly through the interior to the tail light, are joined by five great standard colors that have it all. In particular, the neon green, reminiscent of Kawasaki, and the bright orange are eye-catchers. In addition, the entry-level bike also offers a lot in terms of technology, e.g. a strong ABS brake system with double piston caliper and double front disc or hydraulic suspension. The clearly designed display pleases and informs the rider well and quickly about speed, rpm and the like. The "GP 2" model from Wottan is more 125cc racing machine than many big brands offer. In addition, the price is practically unbeatable: the official retail price is CHF 4'390.00. In contrast, the Yamaha R125, for example, with similar performance data and a much worse look, starts at CHF 5'990.00 and is thus about 35% more expensive. Honda has nothing like it and the Kawa Ninja 125 is even more expensive. You now also understand why the brand has already had so much success in Switzerland.

So, should you come across the term "Wottan" in the future and wonder what a "brother" is, you now know and can direct the uninformed to our report. Thank you very much!

  1. Hello Rolf
First of all, thank you for the activities. As a Zontes dealer (one of the larger in Switzerland) I am massively disappointed about the journalism. Zontes - in sales figures the number 2 in the 125 after Yamaha in only 2 years on the market is only casually mentioned, tested and published. Especially in Motosport / Töff but also in the motorcycle articles are switched by those - where "paid" is.... (Advertisements, Insentiv etc.)
That it is also so blatant in Switzerland - I am only now aware - where I experience it myself and actively follow. On your pedestal should be Zontes - since certainly not with developments and growth rates of number 1 to Steiegerungsrate can be counted on... But what the heck, everyone is himself the next... and creates its own rules of the game.

Wottan brings with the new GP1 again a new "measure of things" - but also the model will hardly find attention in the market even with piece numbers over 100. I look forward to when Zontes will move in the top 3 as a whole brand and the "bribes" of big brands break away more and more... Currently, you may pull as a consumer always the same models of the big brands with tests here and tests there until it hangs to the neck out... but fortunately it's not just me so and the publishers will get bigger and bigger problems, because also the readership notices how "objective" is reported. I therefore inform myself more and more online which is conditionally a bit more objective because I can select myself. Therefore, your report about Wottan is a small ray of hope... Greetings Andresas from http://www.swiss-moto-bike.ch

      Hi Andreas

Thank you for your detailed comment. I am guided by the interest of bikers and what might be interesting for them. Speaking of Zontes, we presented the brand with a model in the report "These are the winners 2021". All these "new" brands enrich the market for buyers and, of course, dealers.
