The Yamaha VMAX is one of a kind and has achieved cult status since its launch. Not only its immense power, but also its always very own look, which has changed over the years, but has always clearly stood out from the other models, have ensured the success of this legendary model.
Yard Built Infrared
To mark the 30th anniversary of this powerhouse, which was first launched in 1985, Yamaha commissioned custom designer Jens vom Brauck and his company JvB-motos to bring to life a unique VMAX creation in honor of the occasion. The result is a mix of "radical dragster and café racer", as Yamaha calls it, whatever is to be understood by it. The pictures speak for themselves, I think. In keeping with the VMAX's 30-year history, design elements from it have also been adopted. Eye-catching features of the Yard Built Infrared include the custom aluminum fender under the custom carbon fiber headlight unit, custom carbon fiber wheel covers, turn signals from Motogadget, an authentic tachometer from Autometer in the style of an American Dragster, or the exhaust system with custom 4-1 manifold and muffler from Termignoni for the unique engine sound along with the special paint job.
Not for sale in this version, but inspiring
In this version, the special model is not for sale, because, as Peter Manzanares from Hostettler AG in Sursee, the Swiss importer of Yamaha, explained to me, this one-off production on behalf of Yamaha was completed with parts that were partly not street-legal. However, this project should inspire VMAX owners and possible buyers to start their own conversion project. Such custom builds of existing production models runs at Yamaha under the name "Yard Built", where Yamaha realizes custom builds with experienced customizers and produces new parts that the Yamaha customer can buy.
